DBT & AEDP Therapist in SF Bay Area, California
Hello there - my name is Helen, and I'm a DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and AEDP psychotherapist. I currently have a very small, virtual-only private practice.
My work is trauma-informed and grounded in psychodynamic theory training, relational group work, and liberation psychology practice. Fit between a client and a therapist is one of the most important factors in successful treatment; I invite you to read a bit about what I do and, if it seems like we could be a good fit, click here to schedule a free 15 minute consult. I am highly skilled in working with depression, anxiety, and relational stress. Specifically, I treat emotion dysregulation (fear, anger, sadness, dissociation; even personality disorders and complex PTSD) from a relational lens. I am deeply curious and enjoy exploring and adventuring, which is reflected in the attentive and inclusive way I work as a therapist. At the same time, I am organized and structured, and am highly motivated to guide you in consistently working towards your treatment goals. If something is new to both of us, I am committed to learning and growing with you - as a team. I work with all those who seek better mental health, and especially welcome those who identify as immigrant, BIPOC, and/or queer.
I am Foundational-trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which informs how I help clients develop and maintain emotional stability before doing higher level or deeper, often trauma-related, building-mastery work. I was trained on adherent, comprehensive DBT teams and continue to actively train and consult. I am also Intermediate-trained in accelerated experiential dynamic psychotherapy (AEDP - Immersion & Essential Skills), DBT-Prolonged Exposure (PE - Intensive) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT - Provider), and Brainspotting (BSP - Phase 1).
I also have specific experience providing trainings on DBT to clinicians in Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC). Please reach out to me via email if you or your organization may benefit from a presentation or consultation on these topics.
I am affiliated with the American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA), where I currently serve on the Diversity Equity & Inclusion Fund task force and am a board member of the Group Foundation. I received my bachelor’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University (2014) and my MSW from Smith College's School for Social Work (2019).
